About me

I joined the Department of Government and International Studies (GIS) at HKBU in August 2021. Prior to that, I was a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Hong Kong (2017-2021), a Lecturer in Politics and International Studies at the University of Birmingham (2015-2016) and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Social Sciences at Collegio Carlo Alberto, Turin (2013-2014).

My research and teaching interests include European and EU politics and law, and the relationship between international law and international politics. In 2024, I was awarded an RGC-funded Early Career Scholar (ECS) grant for my project on the European Commission’s (non)enforcement of EU law in the Schengen area.

I am the author of two books: 'The Politics of International Law' (OUP, 2021) and 'European Union Constitutionalism in Crisis' (Routledge, 2015). My work has also been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including International Affairs, the Journal of European Public Policy, the Journal of Common Market Studies, the International Journal of Constitutional Law, West European Politics and the European Law Journal. I received my PhD in International Relations in 2013 from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.
